Mrs. Julie Pumfrey has been a business broker and advisor for 14 years in the St. Louis area and has over 28 years’ experience in management, negotiations, sales and marketing. She comes from a family of entrepreneurs and has owned several small businesses herself. Her father is one of the business broker greats and recruited her into business brokerage 15 years ago, teaching her everything he knew. Julie was one of the four founding members of the association and ran the steering committee tasked with turning our informal group into the Mid-America Business Broker Association.

Mrs. Pumfrey possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Central Missouri. She has experience in manufacturing, accounting, engineering, law enforcement and corrections. She served 3 years as a Military Police Office in the 1139 th MP Company. She is a Certified Business Broker and was a trainer for new business brokers with both Business Team and LINK Business Brokers. Julie is also a Real Estate Broker with the Missouri Real Estate Commission.

An entrepreneur since graduating from St. Louis University, I started my own manufacturing company when I was 24-years old. As a business geek, I developed the start-up into a highly successful market leader in a high-volume, low-margin industry. After 28 years, I sold the business having achieved tremendous success. But…the sale of the business did not go as I had always envisioned. I founded Metro Business Advisors to guide fellow business owners through their once in a lifetime event by sharing my experience in building, growing, managing and successfully exiting my business.

Mr. Jeff Kalil is from St. Louis, Missouri, and is the owner of VR Business Brokers of St. Louis. “VR” stands for Valued Representation. Mr. Kalil is an Army veteran with over 30 years of service and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves. He has over 15 years of management experience from corporate America, including mergers and acquisitions, and he has owned and sold several of his own businesses.

Mr. Kalil possesses a Bachelors Degree in Nuclear Engineering and a Masters Degree in Engineering Management, both from the University of Missouri S&T. He was a Cavalry Scout and reconnaissance helicopter pilot on active duty in the Army and eventually transition into corporate America to work with some of the nation’s leading aerospace and defense contractors. He is also a licensed commercial real estate broker in the State of Missouri and is an experienced and qualified Business Certified Appraiser. Mr. Kalil uses those skills and experiences to help business owners and entrepreneurs with valuing, buying, and selling businesses in pursuit of the American Dream. It is from years of leadership experience and technical business skills which he leverages to bring out the best in team work and collaboration to help foster the Association’s goals for education, networking, and professionalism.
